Accommodations
The brand-new 430 sq. ft. apartment comprises the beach-level of a three-story tower cottage built by your host who uses the upper two levels as his home and architecture studio. The vacation rental apartment has a covered deck and private side-entrance leading into the living area which features a 24’-wide window-wall affording a 180 degree view of Frederick Sound and the Coast Mountains, with the iconic mountain, Devils Thumb, at the apex. A well appointed kitchen, dining and living area, and a one-of-a-kind queen-size bed all share the dramatic view.
A small bath with a corner shower completes the layout. There is no television, since “Wild Kingdom” plays out the window 24/7. Unlike a B&B, this Vacation Rental provides no food or maid service during your stay. You will arrive to a warm, professionally cleaned apartment and remain undisturbed to enjoy your time on the beach in solitude. Housekeeping is the responsibility of the guest. Extra sheets and towels are provided. Phone and Wireless are provided. Smoking is allowed outside. Off-street parking is provided. This is a carbon-neutral apartment, thanks to regional hydro-electric power.
Location
Rainbow Beach, so named because of the varying arcs of colors on the beach, is located 1-1/2 miles from downtown Petersburg. Just around the corner is Sandy Beach Park, where prehistoric people built fish traps and etched petroglyphs into stone. The airport is 1 mile away, and the ferry terminal is 2 miles. Sandy Beach Road is a great place to walk or ride bikes, and we are close to three trail heads. On the horizon is the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness and LeConte Bay, home of the southernmost tidewater glacier in the northern hemisphere. Rainbow Beach is quiet and secluded with towering hemlock and spruce as a backdrop for a million-dollar view of this magical landscape. Whales, rainbows and icebergs often grace the scene along with a myriad of animal life. It’s the kind of place where one could easily sit on the couch all day, all summer, and just watch the wild beauty and creatures of Southeast Alaska.
Rates and Policies
3 Night Minimum Stay. 2 Person Maximum Occupancy.
$130 per night for single/double.
$110 per night for 7 or more nights.
$ 95 per night for 14 or more nights.
$ 75 per night for 30 or more nights.
10% City Sales and Bed Tax is additional.
Reservations must be guaranteed within 10 days by a deposit of 50% of total lodging cost. Final payment is due 30 days before the reservation date. Reservations made for dates within 30 days of arrival must be paid in full.
Payments must be cash or check. No credit cards are accepted. For cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the reservation date, half of the required deposit will be refunded. For cancellations within 30 days of reserved dates, all payments will be retained. Check out time is no later than noon on the day of departure.
No children. No Pets. No candles or incense. Smoking is allowed outside. Clean-up is the responsibility of the guests. Complimentary bicycles are available. All other transportation is the responsibility of the Guest; arrangements can be made. English and Deutsche is spoken.
